These days, I think just about everyone out there knows that the calcium found in milk does pretty much nothing for the prevention of osteoporosis. It's the wrong kind of calcium! If this is news to you, I apologize now for just throwing that out there without so much as a warm-up. But this is vital info we should all be informed of! Inorganic forms of calcium "look" like the sort the body needs to keep our bones healthy, but it's not. There's a bit more to that story than I'm prepared to go into today, but maybe we'll talk about it another day. In the meantime, there are countless sources of information out there if you want to read up.
Today, I found the coolest source of organic, usable calcium! I had hardly finished reading the chapter in my textbook before I fervently began typing this blog. It's called Lemon Egg - and Dr. M. Ted Merter, Jr discusses it in his book "Your Health, Your Choice."
So - what do we have here? We have an excellent, high-powered calcium supplement that is in a form your body can USE! Keep in mind, this is meant as a temporary supplement (use only for about 30 days) and it should be taken in a dose of about half a teaspoon each day... more than this small amount may cause some leg cramps.
Another bonus... now you can still use your eggs as you normally would. You'll notice the shells are soft - the citric acid from the lemon juice has combined with the calcium from the egg shell to form calcium citrate - the organic form of calcium that your body can use that I've been bragging about. :)
